Got to set up a trip with RODDY BUILT who makes dinnerbell lures in the columbia area. I have been a fan of his topwater for a long time and was excited to be able to fish with him on his turf. Tried a shot at 2 new species for me. Chris put me right on the fish. They were where he said and acted/reacted exactly how he said they would. We absolutely had to work for them but it is fishing and I still got my first ever true trout. This gorgeous rainbow!! THANKS SO MUCH CHRIS.
I used to fish there all the time. Buy a micro rod (bc its way more fun) with like 2 lb line and use 1/4oz rooster tails in the brown or rainbow trout colors. Gotta have gold blades. We’d catch trout up to 5 lbs in there (not many, but some).
If you ever get a chance and desire, head up to Burrells Ford and fish the Chattooga for rainbows and brook trout. Primitive area and beautiful.
Add a black & yellow panther martin to that rooster tail and trout will love you
