Took Jerms and Mrs. Jerms and SC90210 to 4KI yesterday in hopes for some action of a spadely kind. Started out bad early as we had lots of trouble for some reason finding jellyballs, and since Jerms left the shrimp in the back of his truck back at my house in Scummerville, we were not doing so well. The swells were nasty trying to come out of the inlet to get to 4KI early in the morning too. It was drizzling and did not have the makings of a great day on the water.
Decided to head back inshore and try our luck at a few little spots. Netted about 300 menhadden and proceeded to anchor up in a consistant wind coming from the ocean. After fishing inshore for ten minutes or so, Jerms schooled us as usual and put a keeper flounder in the box. A few minutes after that the wind died down and the skies turned a lot nicer.
After a jelly floated right by us as we were anchored up as if to say “Ha Ha!,” we decided to give the reef on more try. Ended up finding the schools at about 10:30 and they weren’t very hungry at all. Had four boats all within about a 20 yard vicinity of each other and over the next two hours only four fish were caught between the four boats. Maybe the fish had been hit hard all weekend and were just getting wise? Don’t know. Anyways, we took home a couple of fish and ended up having a very fun day on the water. It was Mrs. Jerms’ first time out to 4KI and seeing all the pretty spades. Good times.
Saw several cudas on top of the schools too; maybe that had something to do with it. I can’t beleive I’m going to say this, but maybe I should ask a girl how to catch these things? [:0] Love you Penny!
No pictures of our fish, but we did run into some CF celebs on the water…

Not sure if you can see it in the picture or not, but something took a swipe at MCLite’s spade…
