Went out on a bad forecast hoping that the weatherman was wrong like they normally are but this was not the case. Seas were a mix of 3 to 5’ all day long and never really calmed down. We wanted to push out to the ledge for some scamp grouper but settled on seabass in 70’. We did a quick dive on some live bottom and the viz was terrible so we finished out fishing, ate some grilled cobia and gator bites with homemade BBQ sauce (thx Ed), and headed back in. On the way in we stopped by the Charelston 60 to retrieve an anchor but every piece of big dive structure already had a dive boat on it. Looks like everyone else also had the same plan B. Eventually we found something that looked interesting on the sonar and did a quick dive on what turned out to be an old barge section. Not much at all on the barge but we did manage a few grouper (not day makers), founder, and a spadefish that was asking for it…
Thanks BugCatcher, RealFish, Jimmy, and Kat for helping to make the best out of a crappy forecast. The food alone made the bumpy ride worth it.
Jimmy somehow pulled this out of his hat.
