weather

can anyone tell me how these warm days effect the stripers n hybrids -they dont seem to be where they were last weekend when it was really cool but i didnt notice much of a difference in the water temps-did they leave or just get lockjaw?

I have heard that high pressure/cold fronts send them deeper and low pressure brings them shallow. But I can’t catch jack, so what do I know. But the guy that told me this is pretty good.

Smile steely! Your advice was correct-just as west best, east least…most times that is. High/low pressure will most definately cause lockjaw. One rule that does apply though - you can’t catch chit ifn’ you don’t go!

Advice from my father–“Son, if you have to eat a turd, don’t nibble!”

was hoping it was lockjaw-was beginning to think the graph was just goin haywire -i had to be bouncing the bait off their heads and didnt get a strike all day:face_with_head_bandage:

The information part I have right, it is the catching part I struggle with. I do know that stable barometer is best, i have defintely have done better three days after a front. Problem i have in the winter is there is some kind of front passing every three days and with work I can’t just pick days based on weather.

yeah thats my problem-i just cant seem to find them two trips in a row -they r moving to fast for me to stay on top of em just going once a week or longer-going to get some time off over the next two weeks -maybe me and the youngun can get lucky enough to find a few of em

yeah, before my kids were born I used to go 2 to 3 times per week. I always knew where to go and always caught fish. Fishing every two weeks just does not work for stripers. I figure once they start fishing I’ll be able to go more. If I can ever keep my boat running I could get out weekly. Or even better yet buy a new boat.

steelytom, you’re welcome to come out with me if your boat is actin up. I’ll be fishing maybe thursday night, fri, and possibly saturday. The hard part is finding people interested in going that are willing to help launch the boat and can back a trailer.

Well, I can do both. I am going out saturday with phishinphan, but I’ll join you next weekend. He only goes about once every three weeks. I can only fish weekends, I work until about 6:00 every day.

Are you fishing the msc tournament saturday?

Is the tournament this saturday? If so, I completely forgot about it. I’ll probably try to fish it though. Gotta call some people up and try to get a crew together

steve if u r going to murray or clarks hill i’ll b more than happy to pull the boat in or out and buy the bait-usually end up fishing alone -my regular fishing buddy doesnt care for stripers and i’m starting to get back into it -just let me know- i’m off till the 5thand i’ve got plenty of sick days to burn up after that:smiley:

Where do you live? I’m in Irmo and normally put in at Pine Island or at the Dam.

I’m a mile away from lake world towards lexington. Where do you plan on starting out saturday. I guess it is pretty muddy up lake. We were thinking of launching out of koon. We should trade phone numbers. If we find them I’ll call you and if you find them call us. I am not entering the tournament, just fishing. I don’t like that first light rule. I have caught some of my biggest fish at just as the sky begins to light up. I can not sit in the boat during what I consider the best time of day waiting for a tournament to start. i’d rather just fish. Plus there is no way Pierce can stay out until 3:00.
