Wed Afternoon PainKiller MEATFISH SLAM 4/22/15

Left the dock at 11:15 am, with a good report from Doctors Excuse/Making Bacon crew via satellite phone with regards to weather and mahi. Off to the Scarp with Capt Jay, friend Maurice, and new friend Paul. We made fast time out, lines in at 12:30.

First five minutes, WAHOO on the WTF back line. It was GAME ON!

Reset the spread, a 26# Mahi on the planar rod!

Put the lines out again, and it was another wahoo.

Hard to get all of the lines out for a while - we picked at the mahi and wahoo. One sailfish came out to play, but we couldn’t hook him.

Soon a football sized blackfin was boated, completing the MEATFISH SLAM!

We picked up an AJ on the planar - the only one for the day.

Around 4:30, we watched the last wahoo skyrocket out of the ocean and swallow the bait. After an epic battle, the final stretch in, a shark decided he wanted some sashimi - making it 4 and one half wahoo for us!

The ride home was SLOW and wet. I had to put down my book as it was getting soaked from water coming over the t-top. We made it back in time for a sunset photo.

A great time was had by all.

Final tally,
8 Mahi
4 1/2 Wahoo
1 Blackfin
1 AJ
0/1 Sailfish

Flying fish galore.

Tight Lines,
Jason

I love it. Slow for y’all must have been 45:smiley:

Great trip. I was glad to see the pain killer on the water. Captain Jay always puts you on the fish.
