Stopped by Georges to get bait this morning about 6:15, Biggest bait I’ve ever seen on Murray! Georges wife said some one caught a 47# Sunday and George caught a 83# Blue Mon. Put in at the park and went to the mouth of Big Hollow, but the wind was whipping out of the west, tried to pull freelines and boards but couldn’t handle boat, only caught 1 20" fish. Rode down lake to Wessenger trying to find a place out of the wind! read some fish on the bottom in 25’ and anchored. Set out cut bait rods and started catching fish all 19-20" while unhooking one, my 88 year old partner dropped a rod overboard all I heard was “S” and I hit the water to retrieve it, I caught it but the 68 deg. water took my breath, I made it to the transom and crawled in took me 30 min to warm up tho still catching small fish, and some nice cats! Pulled anchor and made our way up the lake in the white caps to Big Hollow, found an area out of the wind and started catching 20" fish on cut bait, tried downrigging with the big baits but never hooked one. Tied hooking the bait between the dorsl and the tail and started hook them. Caught a lot of 8" to 20 " fish and a 18 # blue. went to Crystol lake and caught 4 Keepers around 26" out in front of the ramp. Long hard day in the wind! Didn’t mean to write a book, just wanted to share info!

That bait shop you referring to on the way to dreher island?

George Preston’s bait shop is about 4 miles from Dreher Island State Park on Macedonia Church Rd. going towards Prosperity. His phone number is 873-3258.

Ok right around the corner from me. I have always gone to the one at the gas station on the way to the park

That bait is “local”…

They are getting some nice baits out of murray right now. What kind of water temps were your reading? Wondering if the Chapin side is still significantly warmer than the Lexington side

Wellcraft V-20 sportfish with a 200 Evinrude

The temps were pretty much the same at all the places we read 67/68. I’m sure that the strong west wind had mixed it well!
