Put in at the dam about 6:45 and there was tons of bait around the park area, but nothing bustin on them. Took a few casts around the bait, then drove on back into Ballentine looking for schooling fish, but didn’t see anything.
Headed back around the ramp area and didn’t even see the bait, so I headed over to Jakes and didn’t find them there either. Was almost dark, so I decided to just blind cast around a point we found them schooling the other day. Missed one and then picked up a 23" fish looked like he hadn’t eaten since June.
Packed it up and decided to drive back to the ramp slow across the big water. It was beautiful out and only 8:00, so I figured if I marked some fish I may pull out the downriggers. There was plenty of fish out there, but I was surprised how deep they still were and I didn’t bother trying any trolling. I was expecting to see them at about 35’ or so.
Guess they are still out on vacation and don’t know its time to go back to school and it has looked like they’ve been dieting. The ones we caught last Saturday were all skinny. Maybe they’re just waiting for 1 October. Anyway, we’re going out Friday morning to work our side of the lake.
I am planning on going for sure this weekend. Any suggestions?

Sounds like most people are pulling freelines and/or casting to schooling fish. Had a friend do well all the way up by the gap, so sounds like they are scattered all over.
