I have insurance seminars this week, but I managed to sneak out after class yesterday–alone again. The trout were not producing at last week’s spots, so I went searching for some brand new (to me) spots that looked good on Google Earth. As the pics suggested in my amateur rationale, one of the spots produced. It was tough everywhere yesterday for some reason, but I managed about a half-dozen trout (largest 17"-18"), a flounder (keeper, but no giant), and three reds (two slotties and a rat), thanks to the help of Google Earth. All were caught on green grubs, and all released, as usual. I look forward to trying that spot again next week, maybe. Trout and flounder were caught in about 10 feet with green grub, with a couple of the trout in about 2 feet. Reds were close to the bank in 1-3 feet of water, also on green grub. Fishing slow wasn’t the trick yesterday for the trout. Medium retrieve was better. Also, you’ll get bit at about 50% of the feeder-creek mouths on the Folly right now, but nothing too stacked up there in general. It’s a ■■■■■■■■ if your spots aren’t producing. I checked out a new-to-me flat right before I had to leave and only spotted one large redfish there. The water was pretty muddy, so I got up almost on top of him before I saw him. He was sitting in a little pocket in a spillway betwixt a pair of oyster bars. I may pay him a visit next week when I check that area out again. Perhaps, I’ll find some buddies of his in the area, too.
Gotcha Covered,
