Wednesday 5-17

Checked the buoy at 4:30 and it looked good. The actual ocean, not so much. Slogged out at 22kts straight into stacked up seas. Headed south of Edisto Banks to a nice temp break in 150 feet. It was there as advertised, nearly 4 degrees with scattered weeds. Fished out and picked up a pair of nice dolphin on the offshore side. Worked that area a while putting one more in the box and then it shut down. Went out as far as 200 ft and then back in and it looked like weeds were thinking about forming up but no fish. Fished out one more time and decided that if they were anywhere they were going to be on a weedline and temp break so we put all our eggs in that basket. By 2pm a nice line had formed that we fished the rest of the day. Picked up 4 more nice fish before heading in at 4. Kept the boys busy clearing weeds between fish. Saw a huge school of nice size dolphin under a mat but no takers. Could not even get them to eat a live mullet. Ocean laid down in the afternoon and it was a nice ride home. Saw only two other boats the whole day.

I hear in florida the secret is jumbo live shrimp when they won’t bite.

Thanks for the report.
