Trolled for wahoo at Georgetown Hole and then down ledge through SW Banks. Finally caught one nice wahoo at SW Banks. No other action trolling but caught plenty of vermillion snapper bottom fishing.
Very nice!
high speed?
Those Parkers are sweet rides.
Trolling at 13 knots. Its a lot of boat for something that can sit on a trailer in your back yard!
Parker 2520
Nice ride. What size engine and fuel do you have? I looked up the weight and the Parker site for the new 25 was 5K+ pounds with 156 gal of fuel. I’m interested to know your numbers on fuel burn and mileage. I run a single Suzuki 250 4s on a 25 Bertram with 178 gallons. I average 1.5 - 2 miles per gallon. 70+ miles to ledge out of Savannah. TIA.
I’ve repaired and rebuilt a lot of boats over the years. Too dang many. I quit. But I worked on my first Parker last year. A 27’. There wasn’t anything really wrong with it, the owner just wanted some transom changes. He used it for offshore commercial fishing and the transom was too low to suit him. Me too for offshore use. Needs a full transom. Just like yours. I made one.
I took off the engine, rebuilt the transom full height, built a covering board over the stern and installed an Armstrong bracket. Then re-installed the engine. I forget the year model, very early 1990s I think, and it was the best built and most solid boat that I’ve ever taken a saw too. For it’s age, it was in better shape than most boats rolling out the factory today.
This is how she came,
About halfway done here…

Transom finished…
Bracket and engine installed with the help of the crabbing crew…
Re-rigged and there she goes…
Glad to see th
I know a fellow that his first Parker was a repo. The previous owner had a fit of rage and drilled holes all through the hull before they picked it up. He had it repaired and used it many many hours before he got his newer Parker.
Nice fishing, but be careful holding a wahoo like that, or your new nickname will be “Johnny 3 fingers”…

You’ve got that right!! Only if it was dead, good and dead! Then I still wouldn’t do it

Got your pm on fuel mileage but what size motor? Also, like your crimp with the rolled loops…same as me. I saw the leader and was wondering was that fluorocarbon attached to heavy momo?
Had a 25’ Downeaster jut like that Parker with a bracket and twin 225 efi mercs, loved fuel, came with a 100 & 2-50s and had to add another 60 between v berth to make it all day. I finely went down to a single 225 and it ran as well but not a fast, It had a 10’6" beam and was easy to trailer with a Suberban with 5.7
It’s just wore leader, 400lb mono shock leader and the main line. No flouro
You’re a brave man putting your fingers that close to his mouth with the hook still in him! Nice Hoo!
Had a king fu grip on him. He was gaffed in the gills and had pretty much given up. I normally wouldn’t do it but he made it doable.
