This is Trout wife…First offshore trip and now I understand why my husband is always wanting a bigger boat. WOW! Headed out hours before the sun and I was thinking….why? Then I got an education. Phin & company were incredible!!! He would identify the fish under the boat by reading the fishfinder, tell us when to put in, and then BAM. My arms were tired from the Snapper. Then he was like the fish whisperer or something. He called a dolphin to the boat and it practically jumped into the fishbox. Next on to secret spots number two and three where we picked up Grouper, Beeliners (many footballs, limited out), BSBs, and a few randoms. Had to go home because the box was full (the box had previously held lifejackets and had never seen a fish). Saw a baby seaturtle, played with some dolphin and fell in love with the blue water. Got beat and wet on the way home……still sore but smiling and proud of that Pioneer 197.

Yes Phin is a great fisherman. He does really good filling the boat with bottom fish. Sometimes his ego gets the better of him and talks a bigger game than he brings but all and all he puts um in the box. Good guy, good fisherman, got a big head too!

I need someone with those sounder skilz to help me. Whould this be a good place to fish? What kind of fish do we see? What should i use for bait? I need those skilzzz.
Seriously, nice haul lady and gents.
had a blast, never seen my boat do the things it did that day. i think my wife did better than i did.
phin was great, very humble actually. it was cool to hear “drop now, we’ll see snapper and probably a grouper” or “some more beeliners and a few bsb’s” and actually pull up those fish.
im very happy to see my wife have a great time on our little boat. I was thinking she would get out there and demand a bigger boat, but she had a blast and thinks the boat did great. Im just hoping we can get out there on a 24-25’er and then she’ll see.
thanks again phin.
I’ll take a shot at your fish TV…this is what I see.

Trout and Mrs. Trout were very cool. We released ARS in the double digits and kept a half-dozen or so- pretty good for only having an anchor for 30 minutes. I lost my anchor thanks to one little slip up by yours truly. Prop cut her right off!
It’s always good to be out there on a Pioneer, and it was definately good to be out with good friends who loved catching good fish!
Thanks again for the ride, Trout!

i wasnt going to mention the anchor…or lack thereof:sunglasses:
did u recover any pics? i had to buy another dig camera today to get pics from the card…i think we killed the wife’s “nice camera” and video camera. i think i will be buying some sort of dry bag before i buy some tabs. that ipod (#3) survived (how??). what a ride.
Great trip guys. All it takes is one good trip for Mrs. Trout !!

Jerms has a shockproof waterproof digital camera with video capability. Less than $300. That’ll be my next one.

I haven’t experienced that first hand in actual combat, but I have trained in a similar scenario where it still makes the hair stand up on your body.

get’er done!
Good report, suspect she will be in the boat whenever you leave the hill now?

Awesome fishing and report! Aside: there are a few newer waterproof video cameras out there that shoot to SD cards - solid state and waterproof to 10 or so feet for about $300 - some take 3-5 mp pix as well. That’s my next purchase…

great job, guys… glad you could put the lady on some fish… now she will understand a little better when trout wants to fish all day…
Phin, you got mail…

I think you should get your own logon as “Trout Wife” !
That trip offshore will end up costing several $100 thousand dollars over time !
Glad you enjoyed! Always great to have more wives/women in the sport!

Trout,
You can get waterproof bags for electronics/licenses/etc. at boaters world for under $25. I have kept the same cell phone for over 3 years thanks to one of those dry loc bags that you can dial and talk through.
My camera is toast though… the bags won’t work if you don’t keep the camera in them! I will be looking for a setup like jerms has when I get some extra cash. I’ve seen his laying in the scupper drain of a boat with blood all over it before. I thought it was a ruined camera but he shrugged it off saying- good of a place as any for it!
Here are some more pix-

thanks yall for the recs. the one that got ruined was a digital SLR and a digital video as well. My own fault. I definately need some more gear, and a few offshore setups too. and trim tabs! I cant imagine how little the 20’ looked out there. i expected the wife to be scared to death but she had a great time. thanks again.
