Wednesday Murray

Decided to brave the below normal temps and North winds so got a dozen and a half herring and hit the water about 11 pulling planer boards in 20-30 feet of water in Beards Creek. Water temp just 49.7 when we put out but did crack 50 later in the afternoon. Got a strike deploying my first planer which I wasn’t prepared for and missed. Found concentrations of fish a couple times but they weren’t fair as they all elected to hit at the same time. Having four fish on at the same time overwhelms the two of us. So even though we missed a lot more than we caught, we still managed two 21 and one 24 incher. All were really nice and fat looking. Maybe it was border line uncomfortable, it was still a fun day and more pleasant than the golf course yesterday.

Have a bad feeling that my four year old trolling motor battery has a bad cell. Will confirm tomorrow.

not bad for 1.5 doz. baits. Good to see them still hitting with this weather. At this time last year the water was already up to 64* and the herring were in spawn mode with striper schooling heavy. Oh well, it should keep the lake cooler in the summer and prevent any fish kill.
