…Got the new boat, got the new itch!!! After 2 skunked days on the lake I’m ready to put some fish on the deck. Plan is to go offshore for a bottom bump only on Wednesday if this forecast holds. Is anyone else planning to do the same? No idea where i’m going to head as of yet. Only a crew of 2 possibly 3 at the moment. I have gotten through the break in period for the yamaha’s now.
You must have spent a lot of time on the water in two days, to get those motors broke in. It took me a month going to the river every weekend to put the time, and burn the fuel the dealer instructed me to use. Good luck on your fishing.
20 hours service. In all reality there should never be metal shavings in a motor but that’s the old saying for the first service. Same thing with an ATV and anything else.
Understand a lot of this is reference points. On my Axis I was well over my service recommendations but never had an engine problem. I had a amplifier and windshield issue on that boat.
What weather report are you using. It looks like crap 20 to 60. Yamaha recommends oil and foot change at 20 hours. They don’t recommend filter change til your 100 hour service which i though was odd.
I use wunderground, reef cast and watch buoy day of. I use forecast out 20nm. I’m not planning on going too much farther than that and if it ended up sloppy I could fish inside 20.
Sail flow at the Charleston Buoy, noaa out 20nm, reef cast around the 100’ line all show the same forecast. Winds 5-10, seas 1-2 ft. I’ll check Edisto buoy @ 3am before we head out.
I went out Friday for 5 hours in 40 degree rain and 15-20 mph winds. Then Saturday in 30-40 degrees and more wind. It’s supposed to get up around 50. I’ll be layered on layered on layered.
