Fished the creeks around Edisto April 27-29. Caught lots of undersized trout on dark jigs near creek mouths with oysters after the tide got up on them. Lots of bait but mostly larger mullet is what we got in the cast net. Had an overall strange weekend with a 6 pound bluefish, a 25 inch spottail, and a 2 pound flounder. The best part was the five hours stuck on an oyster rake. But even then we caught 7 trout while we waited for the tide to come back up. All in all, it beat work by a whole bunch.

wow…nice blue fish. didnt know you can catch em down here that big. Caught a lot those up north on Long Island …i personally will take a fight from a blue any day but people up north considered them a nuisance when going for striped bass. Well great fish…and report.
we only seem to get the “big” blues here around may, and they don’t seem to go far inshore at all. they’re spawned out, skinny for their length (that one looks like more than 6lbs!), and headed north.
my dad’s from new england, and i got to fish the mid-summer run of blues up there with him when i was about 8. lots of 10-20+ pounders that will take fingers off cleaner than a tablesaw… every mate on a headboat there knows someone missing digits.
