Weekend Fishing Adventure

Got to Charleston about 10:30 and me and friend girl went to put boat in Folly River. Picked up abt 4 dozen or so fiddler crabs at the boat ramp. We hoped in boat and headed down the way to my Sheephead spot.Got to my spot and guess what, someone was in it. So luckily my spot is stretched with a sheephead bed so i pulled the boat on in tied up and soon as i got tied up here comes the wind and boat traffic. Rocked us all over the pilings. So we finally got stabled and I baited her rods with shrimp for whiting and got her right and then baited my rods for sheephead with fiddlers. Started chumming area and dropped down. 30 secs later bait gone… Rigged up again and dropped down 1 minute later fish on. Caught about 3 or 4 small sheeps and 4 or 5 nice ones.Broke one off that had to be about 18-20 inches and my girl saw it when i had it to the boat and went crazy. I really think she scared it and that’s why it took a nose dive and popppp!! I Was past mad.Uggghhhh
So finished that day up a few hours later after going on down folly river and the water turned into a washing machine. Whitecaps and 3-4ft swells. With me and my girl scared I hurry up and turned that boat around. Ended our trip fast after taking nose dives in waves and soaking wet. Did anyone else in Folly Saturday experience that. Well Sunday before we left I took ole girl to Mt.Pleasant Pier and tried the sheeps there. Omg i looked over rail and saw the biggest sheepheads I’ve ever seen. Saw one thst had to be abt 22-24inches. So being all excited i rigged my rod up and started sheephead fishing. Got smacked about 5 or 6 times and then it was on. Ended up with 5 nice sheeps. I have officially became a sheephead fool now

that ain’t your spot, fool! dangerous taking fiberglass in there anyway, leave it to the metal fleet :imp:

Been in some pretty rough water from Folly Marina Cole creek area to the Stono Inlet before. No fun! The wife and I will be heading down to Folly River Thursday for the weekend. Since Oyster season is delayed we’re hoping to land some fish for dinner.

Thanks for the report.

Thanks for sharing your day…Sheephead Fool. That wind keeps the bugs off you and washes down the boat.

I see you’re real big on anchor rope coiling!!!

Catching sheephead is addictive. I love trying to out smart those jokers.

I’ve fished that spot 3 times with out much more than a nibble but my buddy lost a monster he claims, it seemed like a 5lbr all times were low or mid incoming so might of been a tide thing for me.

I was the guy in your spot and I was very shocked to see you slide a fiberglass boat in there like that but it did work I saw you rod bent over!

Nice report. That Folly River can get really sloppy with a northeast wind when the tide and the wind start to buck each other.

Those rich guys from Greenvile don’t mind tearing up a boat to catch fish! Good work Torry!

Hey Bonzo. How are you doing buddy. Noooo not the Sheephead fool. Barbawang and Maty taught me all that I know about Sheephead fishing. Thanks to them 2 guys I am on a mission.Yes OccamsRaiser the water was about the roughest I ever seen it to be in Folly. It was a straight washing machine out there. Luckily my friend girl didnt load the floor up with everything she just had ate.lol. Thanks Boatpoor. Nooooway rich buddy. I am trying to get rich like you guys up in this group. Man no lie the concrete pylons tore my side railing up… Ugghh definitely wasnt worth the sheepheads…Yeah DFreedom I see this name sticking now…Lawddd. JGHall, I should for all the stories I could tell you all about including when I got struck by lightning by the Lighthouse, True Story, some of you might remember that weekend. Barbawang, I was tellung RedFinder101 about that day we fished the area and you were pulling out monsters. That was my first day in training and you guys taught me well.Archercraft1, I hope you and the wife got on some fish. MDaddy, yes I keep alot of rope. Seems I cannot never get my boat to anchor down when in deep water. FlewByU, yesI am addicted now forreal. That bite is crazy though. I tend to slightly jig in slow motion, that is mt way to go. Hold up 40Inches, how you notice that spot, I must didnt color the pic enough.lol. RedFinder, it was nice talking to you iut there. We caught a few more after yiu left. Most were throwbacks.Hope you found them. Apickett and that is exactly what I ran into. It got ugly in 2.5 and did not let up.
