Weekend freeze

Just a heads up this weekend could have serious affect on the fishing. Opinions?

Trout killer in the making with nothing to be done to stop it!!!

Even though it’s going to get really cold, I’m hoping it won’t be too bad if it doesn’t last too long. Hopefully the warm weather we have been having will buffer the effects of this cold snap. The forecast is showing back into the 60’s by Tuesday, and high 60’s by Wednesday.

Keeping my fingers crossed, anyway.

Provided it warms back up, a couple of days of cold weather shouldn’t have that much of an impact.

So is this weekend going to be our “Winter?”

Down here is where a signature goes but they can confuse and anger some people so I don’t have one.

Hope so !!! Done and gone , gone ,gone:smiley::smiley:

no, expect another cold blast the 2nd week in February, right around SEWE…

Nearshore water temp had dropped more than 10 degrees over the past week, even though the weather had been warm.

this is fact. look it up.

Water temp two days ago in the upper Wando was 61°. I’m thinking that the fish will be fine and temps will climb up next week. Should make for some good trips next week.

Looks like a repeat of last winter 50s-70s most of the time with 3 or 4 cold snaps in between.

I’m not concerned with this one

Well the weather man was wrong for the better this time, never frosted at my house 3 miles from folly, half mile from stono on james island

DNR syas water temps in the mid 40’s is a trout fish kill. Some may remember the cold a## winter we had back in 2010 and 2011. Killed a bunch of trout that year. DNR said it would take five years to re-populate the species. What I saw was the trout were so dormant, the dolphin were picking them off big time. Hopefully with this warmup, all’s good

When did you see it recently or 2010/2011? I haven’t been out or heard any reports.

I was on the Stono today. Water temp was 48.5.

It was back in 2011, probably some articles archived here on the site. It was a pretty big kill that year. I did notice it took a couple of years to come back. Hopefully the temps Moral Kiosk reported were surface temps only. I’ll let you guys know because I’m taking Friday off to check it out!
