Weekend report - Cooper and Bulls Bay

Cold Saturday and better temps and wind Sunday.

Water temp was high 40’s to the best I saw was 50.

Trout bite was good both days Saturday 30+ trout in 5’ to 12’ and Fried Chicken Zman Swimming Trout Trick was the bait of the day easily out fished all other baits 5 to 1.

Reds were sunning themselves in the shallow water and not hungry. Pulled 4 out of structure between 15" and 25". Saturday they were really not that interested.

One lone Flounder…

Sunday ran out Anderson Creek into Bulls Bays. Watched the dolphin POUND the reds on the bank. First 4 places we went had dolphin just all over. So we tried one last spot and there no dolphin and some trout and reds willing to play.

Bite really turned on mid falling tide to dead low. 65+ trout all in 8’-10’ of water about 10 yards off banks. 10 Reds best 22". Bait of choice today was pretty much everything you threw. Best colors were Zman Po’ Boy and Blue back herring Streakz 3.75. Buddy at one point went 12 in a row.

All in all put 14 trout in the freezer this weekend. Saturday we made our own trout slot to keep trout over 15" and under 20". Sunday due to keeping 6 Saturday our slot changed to 16" - under 20". Buddies ask me why Under 20. I made a decision on my boat that if I am ever gonna be like Stump and catch a 24" TRUE Gator then all the 20" Trout must go back and grow. My own personal rule in hopes that in a year I will catch them even bigger!

Get out and fish the bite is still really good. Just have to throw a bunch of baits and see what they want!

Lastly can someone tell me how to rotate pics! I know there i

Good on you for the U20 rule on trout. I have been doing that for a few years myself.
But I rarely keep more than 3 trout.

When I’m on numbers my rule is witch ever ones eat it to deep. Doesn’t happen as bad with soft plastics but when I’m fishing hard baits there’s always a few hooked to deep or massacred by the treble hooks.

Awesome fishing!! I had my buddy put back a 21.75" on Saturday… he wasn’t happy about it LOL… but when I said next time you catch it, it could be 24 inches he laughed. He did keep 2 small spottail both at 18 in and two 20in black drum so he was cool with that. Congrats on a good weekend, we whacked em Sat too!

Sounds like an awesome weekend! Good on ya for the trout slot. 15-20 is mine as well.

Fantastic day on the water. Been fishing the Stono, with no luck for 2 weeks. Can’t wait for spring
