Weekend Report- Not Too Good...

Pitiful as it is- here is my promised report: skunked. Friday I did not get to go due to unexpected circumstances. Saturday we motored up to the dock at the State Park ramp just in time to hear George had “just left”. I blame myself. I misjudged my boat travel time from upriver and let everyone linger too long before getting under way. I called David but he was already done selling on the lake at this point, too. With no live bait, instead we tried pulling Stretch 25s and lost 2 of them immediately ($$$) to snags while fishing around Z2 and C1. The wind picked up and decided maybe slow cruising and drinking adult beverages was a better idea than heading across the Big Pool to try Spence. Sunday we fished with worms from the dock in Cloud’s Creek and wore out the bream, bass, and catfish. We never really marked any large quantities of fish and saw no schooling whatsoever the entire weekend. So it was not my weekend for Mr. Linesiders- but still had a great time once I realized that. Maybe next time. Glad to see the Lady’s did better than I did, and like always, it was great to be on the lake.

If you had called George, he probably would have waited for you.

I called him beforehand but I underestimated how long it would take to load and get there. Probably would have been worth cutting the motor on the journey and calling him from the boat with an updated arrival time. I’m definitely not blaming George- he’s been good to me. But once I found out he was gone it was too late, I wasn’t going to call him and ask him to come back…even though he might have done it. I know the bait guys put in the hours and the last thing I wanted to do was hold someone up. Not a biggie- there’s always another day.
