Weekend Tides.

Looking good for this weekend. I hope to go Friday night and then again on Saturday morning.
Anyone else going?
CHris.

Night time highs look awesome… daytime highs are still kinda weak… Lookin at the Ville Sat Morn with my Brother down from VA. Probably launch around 7am… stick to the creeks after the water heads out and tryand scoop up some pockets reds and trout… maybe a bonnett head or two…

i wish those good hightides were during the day

Good luck Bros

I just wish the dang wind would die down some. I’m not a good enough caster to battle my ineptitude and the wind!!

if the east wind keeps up-wish granted. Right now the tides are 1.5 above predicted.

Went yesterday had WAY to much water on most the flats and searched and searched and could not find anything outta the wind… to the point where alot of the flats had white caps it was crazy!!

Went to an old standard yesterday. Arrived an hour and a half before high and the flat was already covered beyond fishability. This weather needs to go elsewhere.

went two hours early which turned out not to be early last night. back creek was perfect except for the fish. the high marsh kept the water clear and the ripple down. now the front side with the high grass was another story. way too much water and rollers. gonna try again today. sposed to be a different angle on the wind. wed. am was good(+1.5) but it turned before good light so i didnt try.

has anyone seen good tailing in the high wind. i wonder if it screws up them finding stuff by sound as much as it does me. could hardly hear the splashes. i saw two commotions and threw my 1/2 oz DOA shrimp fly to no avail. might have been mullet.

looks like it will be quite a while before a good astro day tide. oh well.

as long as you can find em by sight the tailers in the wind can be epic. The fish are FAR less spooky and stalking is “breeze” (sorry could not resist.)

^yep. Seen some of the most and biggest tailing fish on windy days in may. But it had been warmer than this week, though.

high tide is around 7.20 at my spot today. Hope to get out there by 5am before it gets too flooded!

Same story. Went early last night, already way high, wind was a sob, no tails. Do the crabs hunker down when the water temp drops like it has? Also, noticed the gulls diving like crazy. I was thinking with the huge tide they might be going after snails. Anybody know?

a knowledgeable angler told me that a biologist in texas told him that reds are the only “tailing” fish whose lateral line extends to the base of the tail… could explain why they often hate sticking it up in wind…

that it does:

It may also explain why they only put up “just the tip” in places where they do tail more often in the wind. Such as IR and Mosq Lagoons, and flamingo. But they are so much more spastic here due to diggin out fiddlers as opposed to easier other crustaceans farther south.

Well I tried it and I feel like I just went 10 rounds with Tyson.
Man was it rough. I left 1.5 hours before high tide and it was already way up.
May take a look at it in the morning.
CHris.

went again fri nite. finally saw one and my buddy saw two(that is 3 fish in 7 manhours). he got one. hes up 5 nil on me now so i am getting pretty jacked. i may try tonight though i think it will darken before crucial elevation. moonrise is pretty late and it may storm, but the games not til 9.
