Ok so I am now in the market for a boat and have a pretty good budget, however I am still debating on what kind of boat to get. Ideally I would love to get a center console with twin engines (less than 30’) so I can go offshore, however my concern is this.
Based on the fact that I would only get offshore usually on the weekends, how many time per year do you realistically think I would get to?
I just remember my buddy had a boat (21’ Center) and when we at least tried to goto the CHS 60 we had to change our minds as the waves would have made it a bad ride. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
It seams only the middle of the week had good weather untill I retired, now when I’m available it seem to be always bad! On the LORD knows. To anser your question, some years its good, others bad!( El Ninjo and the other one La Nina) It’s a chance you take, thats why you need mutiable boats, one for off shore, one for near shore one for the bays and sound, one for the creeks and rivers and one for the family! Good luck.
You have use of a fleet of boats for less than what it cost to buy one and these are all less than a year or two old. It’s a no brainer to me. You’ll save enough money to charter off shore trips when you can go and the weather is right. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you can see all the locations where you would have boat usage as a member for the cost of fuel. Click on the Boats tab to see what boats are at each location.
No cleaning, maintenance, insurance, towing, launching, taxes and the list goes on. I took a 2018 Key West CC out in NMB. Trolled the ICW all morning for the cost of fuel, under $10.

Just buy my Pioneer and you’ll be set. You can fish inside on the bad days and run way out on the good ones or somewhere in between on the marginal days. Plus you don’t have to do a thing to it other than back it into the water and turn the key. The tank’s already filled up.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Go buy yourself a nice bay boat and use it extensively inshore and near shore even semi offshore or nice days. Use the additional money that you would spend on tackle, safety equipment, larger boat, larger tow vehicle, twin motor maintenance, additional insurance, yada, yada, yada and charter a sporty with air-conditioned salon and full crew 3 to 4 times a year. If you determine after doing this for several years in a row that you are a diehard offshore guy, then you can weigh the options of purchasing a larger center console or going into a partnership with others for a Sportfisher.

Could you pm me the approximate yearly membership fee for this?
Sounds like a good option, but the Mt P location only has one Bay Boat…which is what I’d want to use. Bet it’s hard to reserve.
