Our friend Martin was fishing with Captain Willy Le of Native Fly Charters in the mosquito lagoon and you won’t believe what he caught

I’ve caught 3-4 over the years on old stingray grubs ,curly tails and flies ,solid hookups in the jaw…rare indeed!

Next time I get out there, perhaps I shall add an amberjack to the list of species caught?

Cool! I spoke to one of our customers who said he was going to catch a cobia on one

a friend of mine caught a 8 pound mullet on white spinnerbait fishing for bass in brackish water pond on golf course. I thought he snagged it but after walking over to see it was stuck right in the mouth.

Probably not quite as rare, but a few years ago I was fishing with a buddy on Hartwell. We’re up in a cove casting around for bass when he gets a hit. He’s fighting this thing all over when I see it jump out of the water. I told him “man, that looked like a catfish” and we start laughing. He’s still fighting it and it kind of flipped the top of the water again and again, I was thinking “no way - is that a cat?” He gets it in and no kidding, it’s an 18", 10-12 lb catfish. It’d hit a rooster tail my buddy was spinning along the top. We turned it loose, but joked about getting that thing mounted, bass style - looking like it was jumping out of the water.
