Kayak fishing Sunday up the Stono. Now I had a kayak in the late 70’s and loved it so I borrowed a friends yak to try out and see how it was I loved it for the most part. It was a necky yak not really set up for fishing but I made do.
Things to remember next time.
do not drink 3 cups of coffe before I leave makes finding a dock or somewhere I can get out a priority.
Do not paddle up to dock cast catch fish put paddle on dock to get fish and drift off.
Try to keep track of where you are low tide and in small creeks and chasing sounds of fish jumping can get you turned around.
Do get rod holders Reeling in fish holding rod, paddle and fish is a fun task glad I learned to juggle.
I really did enjoy it and see a lot of areas opening up for me. I did use a necky sit in I was use to that type but will be on the lookout for a dedicated fishing yak as soon a I can afford it.
I did talk to DD a few weeks ago at the shop and will be renting some in the future to decide what I like best.
