Went out to the wando today at paradise landing to take one of my good friends out that was down from FT. Bragg. Got to the landing around 9 and the water was up over the ramp… At that point I wasn’t sure whether to stay or go but against all instincts I decided we would fish! Got everything unloaded and started to search for bait in the grass with no luck, threw some swim sits and vudu shrimp and well… You guessed it, NO LUCK! Waited for 4 long and painful hours before we even saw a finger mullet, finally I found a school of small ones and was able to chunk my 8 footer about 10ft to them and when I pulled it up I only had 3… I then took those 3 mullet to my spots, cut em’ up and rigged up with a J&T jig head with a chunk of bait. We then started to fish about 1/2 way through the outgoing which normally produces well but this time it wasn’t. Long story short I caught one dink red and he caught nothing but hopefully that will change next time. The highlight of the day was watching dolphins breach the bank after schools of mullet, I have to say it was pretty exciting to watch it up close.

Yeah I figured that 6+ inches over rain we got during the week wouldn’t help matters… plus full moon too. Prior the all that rain, the water was the clearest I’ve seen in Wando in a long time. Hopefully it’ll stay nice for awhile…

No, that day didn’t suck at all. Everybody came home, nobody got hurt, and the boat didn’t break. On top of that, you got out, saw some dolphin and other cool stuff and it probably beat watching TV
I could tell you about some days that really sucked, and that one doesn’t even make the cut

I agree. Sounds like a great day.
Keith we hit it Saturday as well ,but surf fishing. Our findings were the same, the reds were hard to come by. Plenty of other fish, yet few reds. Full moon, big tides, a bunch of rain, and NE winds. There was something that the reds were put off by. Thank you for your report, it’s always nice to be able to compare notes. Go Kastking:smiley:
No day spent on the water ever sucks unless something bad happens. Some days are just better than others.
