I FINALLY get my chance at a day on the water. Confirmed just before dark yesterday,so I hobbled around, loaded the boat, finally got my shrimp tags on,baitbinder ready. All is go. So we head out early, get to Beaufort around 10 am, with a 1:00 low tide put in and my steering cable is seized!! We played with it for a while then took it to Mike’s Marine. They say no fix for a while. They tried hard to help out too… Anyway tail between legs, we sulk for 2 1/2 hours back home.
I now will do virtually ANY manual labor for a few of those little delicacies:stuck_out_tongue:
Paint my house and I’ll take you out to an All You Can Eat Shrimp Fest[:0] I’ll even throw in a beer.
That is a relatively easy fix if you are moderately handy. Mine used to seize up in the Winter. I took mine apart, cleaned it and installed a Davis Steering Cable Buddy. No problems since.

Good stuff there DF! Never seen that product before. I saved it to Favorites, Thanks:smiley:
I’ll paint your house…no problem… I’m actually pretty good at it… But the all you can eat buffet better be dang good…
got it fixed yesterday.Yeah Doug it was a pretty easy fix. Ordered the cable buddy also. that is a poor design, not being able to lube the cable at the engine
I never understood why the manufacturers don’t put a lube fitting there.
