I took my kids out fishing on Saturday, but seeing the sail boats out on the lake, I’m pretty sure I could have been competitive in their regatta. Started fishing at 11:30, found a few scattered fish and got 2 21’s and a short. Headed to an island for lunch. Back to fishing around 1:00 and found some fish stacked up at 65’. The wind was brutal for us in our little john boat, so I dropped a marker and was just drifting through the fish, then would motor back up and drift again. Every pass I would get 2 or 3 fish depending on how fast I could get them unhooked and drop again. All fish caught on a spoon. Lots of shorts, but several keepers and the big fish was 25" again.
I’ve very glad I didn’t anchor up on the fish, a dang cabin cruiser came into the cove between me and another boat. He took the right line in the channel, but his wake was ridiculous. I got on the TM to move away as far as I could, and told kids sit in the bottom of the boat to ride out the waves. I understand people are morons like that with their wakes, but it pissed me off when he slowed down 200 yards later to idle in the rest of the way through the cove.
Ended the afternoon meeting Steelytom and his kids at the ramp and hung out with them while the kids played and made a mess. All in all an awesome day on the lake.
