Hey folks,
I recently moved from mt pleasant to west Ashley. Does anyone know of any bait shops close to lime house boat launch? I know haderalls is down 17 but was hoping for something closer. I typically use a cast net but can struggle to find bait in the creeks during the winter and like to be prepared.

Well minnow traps and castnets sounds like plan B due to gas prices
Minnow traps are your best bet. Soak them for a day and you should be good. There’s a few little creeks at Limehouse that hold bait.

What is everyone putting in their traps to attract the bait ?
Breakfast sausage/bologna/bread/fish scrap/chum/anything
Dog food/ cat food
I just look for lines attached to pilings or trees along the accessable access beside the creeks to get mine.
You’ll find them in little metal baskets attached to the strings just under the waters edge
I think the DNR leaves them there for folks, or it may be the mudder fairy, not certain
The best thing is a blue crab with the back pulled off
Fatback is a close second
If there is minnows
You’ll catch them between dead low and the first couple hours of the incoming
I always stake mine out in the middle of the creek because of otters and coons
Later on a gator may chomp it
