West Ashley Water Access

Hi all,

My condo complex in West Ashley has become tired of the resident boat owners hooking up to the fresh water access to clean our boats and put faucet locks on the two access points.

Does anyone in the West Ashley area know of public access to fresh water to flushing/cleaning after being on the water? I figure this is a long shot but wanted to ask. Hoping someone else has come across this before.

I typically drop in at Leed’s and live over in the Magwood area just outside 526.

Thanks for any ■■■■■■■■ or suggestions!

I would hook up to a sink and run the hose out a window.

That’s harsh… I’d find a way around the locks. I’ll bet youtube has a video on how to do it.

Maybe I’m missing something but if I lived in a complex and paid my dues who in the h*ll is stopping you from using a facility you’re paying for and what are the faucets supposidly there for ??? Sounds like a set of bolt cutters are in order…:imp::imp::imp:

There are 3 main complexes on magwood.
If your in Hawthorne, it has a pretty big retention pond. Make your own ramp (4x4) and dunk the boat. Do that a few times and maybe they will unlock the spigots.

Then again, you might be encouraged to live somewhere else.

Without a doubt, your first move is to make sure they’re not keeping water/spigots from you that you have a right to. It can be done in a nice way, but it’s important to make sure you’re not paying full dues without receiving access to what’s promised to you. Not just for you, but for every resident there.
Sorry about the issue. Wish I had a good alternative site to offer.

There’s a quarter wash on 61 not far from your area, and one on Dorchester near the end of Leeds. I know that doesn’t help you flush the engine, but it’s good for the trailer and boat.

Thanks for the ■■■■■■■■.

Unfortunately, my unit is elevated (as they all are) so getting a hose out that far isn’t feasible. I am pursing the right of the complex to block the water in the first place but I rent from the condo owner so I have to go through him to find out the true rules/regs. I have heard mgmt is tough around here so I’ll get a feel for that with this process.

I was just hoping that someone had a magic answer that I haven’t already thought of!

I would nicely explain to them that you pay your dues and you should have the right to access the water. If nothin happened after that I would nicely take bolt cutters to the lock then throw It in the bushes:smiley:
