West Palm to West End

Who’s made this trip and where did you stay and keep boat? What time of year did you go? What did you do other than fishing if there is such a thing?

Mike,
I’ve made the trip seven times over to The Bahamas, most recently in May/ June of this year. I have stayed at Old Bahama Bay at West End and it is pretty nice and safe, too. In June, we stayed at Bootle Bay Lodge, about four miles from O B B. It was nice, but not much to do there. We just stay at West End for the night, either coming from or going to The Abacos. We stay on Elbow Cay when we go. There is so much to do there, we like it a lot more than West End.

Give me a call if you have questions about the trip over. I’m planning for my next trip over there, but have not decided when I’m going, yet.

I’ve made the trip several times from Boynton Inlet and Lake Worth Inlet.

I’ve stayed at both “Old Bahama Bay” and “Blue Marlin Cove” (Bootle Bay). I prefer OBB, but neither place is a party atmosphere. Both are pretty dead, but OBB is a bit more lively. I mostly went in the winter because that’s when the wahoo bite is best. Trolling we’ve caught wahoo, sails, dolphin, cero, blackfins. Also, we’ve spearfished (pole spear or Hawaiian sling) and killed hogfish, tiger grouper, nassau grouper, etc. We’ve also bottomfished and caught a variety of stuff including muttons, yellowtail, schoolmaster, horseye jacks, etc. Lot’s of variety over there.
