Why so late???
I figure it this way…the mahi are out there getting fat and heavy so there’ll be fewer peanuts. And more will survive this season, so next year will be epic.

Mahi are passing us and getting caught further up the coast in better numbers since we can’t get them. The numbers haven’t even been good for the limited season that we have had. We are in the process of watching all fishing getting worse, year by year.
Talk to Bonzo! Word has it, he has someone on the inside over at the Weather Channel:wink:
Let’s hope it’s some “mystery” cycle and not what we all have the sinking feeling that it really is. The GW word

Not to mention the cobia we missed out on here…go take a look at chasin tails reports out of Atlantic Beach NC. They’ve been crushing the cobes the last 2 weeks there.
If we just pay the carbon tax and vote for Hillary will it go away?
quote:I don't think so. Bad weather has kept most fishermen off the water this year, so it might appear to not have been as stellar. You guys can't seriously expect fishing to be the exact same every year, do you? Even the catch and release fisheries are changing because of environmental conditions. Last near they caught 20% of the white marlin that they normally do out of OI. Meanwhile, longliners 300 miles offshore were reporting seeing hundreds of them at night in their lights. Just a few years ago, we had tremendous sailfish action. Fishermen aren't to blame for that either. Environment. You can't look at 1 year and think you know the trend for the past 100 or the next 100 for that matter.

One of the only consistent trends of the last 50 yrs (no offshore fishing 100 yrs ago) is the growth of the human population around the world and its negative impact on the environment. The growth/power of capitalism and the greed that follows has ruined much of the world. The oceans are being strongly overfished with small pockets of water not seeing the same mass fishing pressure as other places. This is a fact and is pointless to argue. With the pacific plastic gyre as the best example and trickling down to local levels, we are polluting the ocean just as quickly as we are overfishing it. Then you have the oil spills we continually think are ok with BP horizon as the worst and the most recent in Santa Barbara last week. Whether you want to say overfishing or pollution or intelligently the combo of both, HUMANS are the reason the fish stocks of every species of fish are lower now than ever before. OI has seen the steady decline of yellowfins and while they disappeared overnight off our coast, the steady decline year by year there shows more direct connection to mass overfishing in spawning areas of Africa and etc. Cobia have been crushed for years and their decline is common knowledge. Bluefin tuna, grouper, etc etc etc etc. Plenty of sportys have fished this year numerous days…when’s the last time someone got their limit of mahi? Yeh 60 fish is alot of fish and more than necessary but it used to happen multiple days a week by multiple boats. These internet argu/discussions are seemingly pointless . Fishing will never be the same by the day or year but no one will convince me that fish stocks worldwide or locally are healthy and are on anything other than a downward spiral. I have no negativity behind my thoughts, only sadness. Until we take capitalism out of the equation, we are not going up. I doubt the next 20,000 people moving to charleston in the next 3 years have any intention of catching or eating any local fish, but if all of them choose to do both, the water will definitely get cl
I happen to believe that GW or cooling or climate change is just so much BS. According to the GW alarmists I 95 was supposed to be the new oceanfront property by now. Every prediction has fallen flat. God is still in charge. Humans are like spit in the ocean. One volcano can put more carbon in the air in one day than humans can in 12 years.
