Left early, but arrived late after fighting our way out to Edisto banks at 16mph. Pat and I put lines in at 9ish. First fish in the spread was a large sail, he ate through a few baits but did not hook up, despite Pats best efforts. I caught a respectible gaffer next. Then had an experience with a 30ish pound bull soon after. Thought he was on my line, pulling hard but turned out to be on Pats line(a little tangle). He got it to the boat and I gaffed it. I had gloves on and went to pull it in, and the gaff slipped through my hand (heavier than I thought). You should have seen the look on Pat’s face. When he finally got him back to the boat I set up for the next try with my spare gaff, and yes the first one fell out the fish, ■■■■. Then snap, his steel leader broke? I swung away and connected. Thank god. He would have been pissed. Caught one more on the way in as the waves picked up. We surfed in at 20mph or so, another long ride with a short stop at 115’. A few dolphin, a barricuda, a flying king (not landed but a sight), and a mystery fish pulling down that ultimately un-did a questionable bimini twist in my steel leader. We returned to port only to greet the storm. We were so happy to get to Remley’s point, soaked but safe. What a day. Only three dolphin, but a memorable day. Just glad to be home and dry.
Glad you made it out. We rigged and loaded up but changed plans after running straight into it for 5 miles. Figured it was going to be along day and my heart was not in it. 63 miles from edisto to the banks in a choppy head sea, not today. Came in just in time for a SERIOUS thunderstorm. Glad we were in the house and not offshore cause it sure made a mess. Ended up catching some good flounder inshore.

How big is a “good” flounder ?
Or, did you mean they were well behaved ?
