What about this particular fish is so attractive to kings?? An old timer told me that they swim behind female kings eating her eggs, thus making them enemies?? But i dont know if the old fart was just pulling my leg?

Have heard tons of different reasons, here are my two cents worth.
Ribbons eat everything, including themselves, so they would def. be a natural enemy for baby kings in hatcheries, and that is ususally where they are found. There appetites are insatiable, so few thousand can desimate an area.
I also think the coloration (bright silver) is a natural attractant that kings can’t resist (or any fish when it comes to something flashing in the water). FYI ribbons do not act like normal fish in the water, they typically lay sideways, and even upside down alot, which defeats the camo coloration mother nature has set up (light bottom dark top…ect…)
As for the egg eating thing…well…I think every organism in the sea, that can, will. That is why they lay so many, so I wouldn’t doubt that (can’t see one swimming behind a big female eating her eggs though) maybe…
And according to my neighbor they taste like flounder (take that for what its worth:smiley:)
OK thanks for the info! I think i am gonna play around this shrimping season and see if i can catch a few. Have caught one in the net before, gonna hang a light over and see what happens…
