here’s a short piece of a clip I shot on Sunday with a client. I wanted to get some WAY COOL underwater video and this IS NOT the effect I was going for.
Camera is an ATC9K HD shooitng at 30fps
I tried the same thing with my GoPro and my Olympus 810. Got the same result (almost) from all 3 cameras. This is actually the best video of the 3 cameras. You can’t see the fish at all with the GoPro.
What am I doing wrong?

Have you tried any lens filters ? If not I would look into them and see what they have to offer .

TB… it’s the water clarity and light. You’re not gonna get very clear video unless the water is very clear (as in the winter).
If you have a neighborhood pool, take your camera there and do some test.
Ditto on the clarity. Also, you may have more luck filming with the sun behind the camera as the bright sky can throw the sensor off.

It’s not the cameras at all. It’s the water(green)and
sturred up bottom from your feet.
TooBusy,i just sent you an email, earlier, funny to run across your
Question here.
I have been a photographer for over 40 years, 20 underwater,in Fla and
the Bahamas.Advertizing work.
If you want a really good photo(video) of your red’s,then, put them in a live well, and go to the ocean side,or off shore, where the water is really clear and clean. Also dead calm days are the best, the particles in the water have a chance to settle to the bottom.
You want to stay away from the bottom, it stirs up easily, when i was on scuba, i never went close to the bottom with sand, these sand particles , will show up in your photos as white, out of focus dots.
From your video, the sun’s beams in the water, were not that bad,but
having the sun over your shoulder is better, usless you want that effect.
If you would like to know more, then we can talk when i get there,May 19th, for four weeks.
