These guys have been circling here just off the beach all morning and most mornings when the wind would allow. Not knowing much about offshore fishing, I was curious what they were doing or fishing for. The area is N. Myrtle Beach/Cherry Grove. As many as 8 boats at times.

Did you see any birds around? Perhaps fishing for Spanish Mackeral.
Tarpon are starting to move up the beach; a few have been caught in Topsail Beach this week. Cobia are around also. Could be Spanish.

Maybe trolling for Kings? It would depend on the depth of the area. If it’s shallow they’re most likely picking up menhaden.

if it’s SM, go to that pier and make long casts with small Gotcha plugs. You’ll know whether it’s SM or not. Probably some blues mixed in.
