I don’t know if you guys only talk about boat problem’s in this section so sorry if that’s what you do but here i go. My dad and i really want a boat but he’s not one to buy 4 boats over 10 years like some people do. We want a good boat that will last ten years. I know you guy’s will think were people who don’t know what to do can’t fish ect. but we have never owned a boat and want a pretty good one. Most people say start off with a little 15 ft. john boat but with a family of 5 that’s just not gonna happen. We want to do a little offshore but also want some versatility in some shallower water but it’s not like we will be going in 3 feet so we won’t need a little 15 ft. john boat. Our limit is $30,000 no more. So 2 engines is not an option. We either want a bay boat or a center console. My dad and i really like the 2011 line of sea fox. We like the 19 bay,20 center,21 center, and the 23 center(my dad and i really like this one a lot because of the offshore capabilities and it’s versatility again not like we’ll be in 3 feet of water ). I found all of these boat’s at the hanckel marine website under the sea fox in show room. Give your $0.02 and your previous experiences. All advice will be taken into consideration and will be taken happily . Maybe then i will loose the name StuckonLand:smiley:.
This is one of the best values and all purpose boats out there today.

i think that pioneer is probably a better boat than the sea fox. just my 2 cents though.
- I’d rather be a free man in my grave than living as a puppet or a slave.
also, if you like offshore capabilities and wont be in 3 ft of h2o i would rule out a bay boat and go w a deep v for sure.

I have a 21’ Tidewater bay boat (‘07 model) and would not hesitate taking it 20-30 miles offshore. I’ve been 12-15 off in my 17’ Key West but would not recommend it unless you have offshore experience and an excellent forecast. The bay boats will do all you want around here and then some. A deep v cc will limit your shallow water fishing and is it worth it for a couple offshore trips each year? That is what led to us selling our offshore cc and Key West to become a one-boat owner again.
i would look for a 1-2 year old boat like a pioneer, sea hunt, etc in the 19-21 foot range, with a yamaha 4 stroke 150-250 hp
the engine will still have factory warranty, and since it wont be brand new, it wont be so bad when you give it a few scratches and dings (dock rash)
They sell the Pioneer line at Barrier Island Marine, which is just a little south of Hanckels on 17 if you want to go see/touch. Worth a look at the Sea Hunt Ultra series - it’s the Triton series standard with cushions and stereo to handle the family cruising also. There are a lot of good deals (new and used) out there right now if you look. Buy a good brand with good reputation and you’ll easily get 10 years on something already a few yers old as long as you take care of it. Ask 10 people and you’ll probably get 10 answers but you’ll see a few common brands/models that you can focus on and then see which works best for your situation.
Whatever you do, stay away from the Sea Fox line. I don’t care who carries that line of boats, it ain’t worth wasting your money on. Especially with your lack of knowledge on boat handling, you need soemthing that can take a beating while you learn how to operate.
Why should I stay away from the Sea Fox line? Yes I have never owned a boat but have heard good things about them… just wondering:question:

Check Sea Fox out right here. This will tell you how actual BOAT OWNERS would rate them, not the biased boat magazine reviews of boats whose manufacturers also buy ads in their magazine (have you ever read a boating magazine review a boat and say it is a POS?).

BTW, I have a 20’ Grady White that wants to grow up to a bigger boat in the near future. It’s a 2006 with a Yamaha F200 still under warranty. Runs like a charm. I’ll even offer to take you out in her if you are really interested. I’ve fished offshore and she handles very well for a 20’ boat. Also have a factory installed ski pylon for the family fun Saturdays tubing and skiing the harbor. She is a nice boat. It is at DI Marina dry stacked. Just send me a PM if you are seriously interested.

Listen to the above. Unless by “offshore” you mean out to the stream, a bay boat is what you need to be looking at.

I agree with the bayboat. Find a 19 seapro or tidewater used off someone.
