HMH spartan. I love mine.
“Fishing is alot like sex…when its good,it’s really good, and when its bad, its still pretty good.”
ive gotten some good used ones on the bid. lot of people dont anticipate the space/time continuum and get out. i like the regal style cause i change hook sizes alot and dont have to adjust anything.
I have a renzetti with a different base. I forgot the name of the base though.
They are pretty nice.
chris.
i hav a true rotary Renzetti and love it
For less than $100 you cannot beat the DanVise. True rotary, clamp on, and can hold hooks from tiny trout nymphs up to bigger saltwater sizes. You can get them all day on Ebay for about $75. If you want to have a pedestal vise, there is a separate pedestal base you can buy for about $25.
Fancy? No, but it can do everything you need it to do and more.
I second what Frenzy says, Danvise is a good one for the money. I would try to get one with a pedestal though. The clamps can severely limit where you can tie flies due to table thickness, etc. I have a Renzetti as well and have gone thru 3 screws on the jaws this year. Part of that probably has to do with the fact that I have tied more than 100 dozen this year. One more company I would look at though is Griffin. They make awesome vises for not much $. Check out their Blackfoot, it will hold #28 to #4/0 hooks, has a lifetime warranty, and is US made. And its true rotary and more customizable than any Renzetti. Hope this helps!

Regal. Have had it for 8 years and had only to oil it once, no other maintenance. I think they cost a little over 100. I have both the clamp and pedestal for it, I prefer the clamp, have even used it on my steering wheel

I second the Regal.
thanks guys…ill do some more research and figure out whats best for me. i definitely want the option to use with a clamp on application and a base to set on a table. is that an option?
