Ditto.

what they said. Look on ebay for a scientific angler salt water. I just bought a new one for $35, 7 wt. light blue.
chris.

I like a bright colored fly line. But then again, I’m not as experienced as Capt Newman and rely more on being able to see the line when casting.

I fish a clear intermediate a lot of times in winter/clear water and feel I get bit more b/c of the line color. Ditto on the floating line muted colors listed.

I wouldn’t worry about the color. Dark colors usually indicate sinking lines. Most local fly fishing reports are going to be about fish caught in shallow water. With a 7/8 set-up I would suggest floating line, weight forward. It’s probably going to be a light color line.

The best thing you could do is get a nice “saltwater taper” leader. They are usually 9’ or 10’ and rated at 10lbs to 16lbs. That’s probably a good place to start. Keep us posted and good luck.

i like the redfish taper from RIO. short fat head for the quick shots. Sci Ang’s red taper is good also, they are makin a cold water version for the C Angler. I threw this line 2days ago and it was great. clear int or a 200gr sink will suit well for the trout fushin. if i was to buy just 1, it’d be a WF floater

I just fished this line for the first time today and LOVE it. I had to swap out my old 8 wt. line (Scientific Anglers Redfish) because it was getting old, and decided to give the RIO a try. I am very impressed and will be upgrading all my lines to RIO when the time comes.

Scotty… you told me you like pink lines but had trouble findin them… hahahahahaha
