The rules were simply stated. They screwed up so now they are suing. I hope they lose and have to pay the other side’s legal costs.
The one thing that stands out to me is that they bought the mate a license on the way in…proving that they knew they were in violation of the rules. Big money tournament rules have to be in black and white, or you run into a quagmire of where do you draw the line…

Yeah, there is a lot un-said in the artical. How did they buy him a license while at sea? Who caught them? Was there a Ref, on the boat that saw it, or did they catch it at the dock?

Also, when you participate in one of those tournaments, you are subject to a polygraph and if I recall, they failed…
Regardless, it’s a ****ty way to lose… Some rules are kind of stupid, but rules are rules…
The stupidity lies with the capt and mate. They new the rules and it cost them big time. They should not cry about it.
