What fish is this?

Caught this little monster in a creek off the Wando (Sorry for the poor image quality- too much creek water).

This slender buzzsaw is loaded with tiny teeth to tear apart shrimp and murder mud minnows.

Other than a green and brown squid I caught yesterday (that squirted me with ink) he is the most interesting cat Ive hauled in with my castnet.

Any idea what he is?

Thanks for any replies, and I hope everyone enjoys Independence Day tomorrow with the same spirit that motivated the founders of the Republic.

That question answered, are they of any use for bait?

</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”>Let’s say NO. A safe/productive local bait list might go something like this:

Mullet
Mud minnow
Shrimp
Squid/‘spree’
Pinfish

Croakers

1,000 more …
then …
Lizardfish.

Let me quote myself to say, "safe/productive" means (to me) bait that you (and many people) can catch in your own boat and that will stay alive for at least one hour without specific boat plumbing engineering. Thus, the absence of menhaden from my list.

Thanks again, Ty, and for as tough a looking hombre as he was, he didnt last long in the baitbucket.

So now he’s chilling in my freezer, waiting for February when I’ll test your theory by using him for bait at the nearshore reef.
