I’m very curious to know what actually happened to the review on palmetto Boat works. Obviously someone has either deleted or flagged it, but why? To me it was just a review on the quality of work a local business gave to their customer. Whether you like the review or not, it was this customers experience and not a personal issue. Unless I missed an inappropriate comment ( which specifically should be deleted, instead of the whole post) I don’t think there was any reason for the higher ups or someone else to flag it. If it is an issue with the forum it was posted in, i understand the matter, but believe that a review forum should be created. Please give me your insight on this as I am extremely curious to know why reviews can’t be posted.
Short answer: Legal issues. Even if something on here is true, and therefore a defense to a libel action, CF.com still still has to hire an atty to defend themselves in court when and if someone starts playing games with their atty.
Long answer: They also do not want the forum to be known for complaints, etc. Things can become quite biased on the internet as some are better at arguing/typing/quiping than others. If someone is arguing with me, and you see I have 11,000 posts and they have 1 post, who is more believed by most readers? Of course that should have absolutely nothing to do with anything, but that I say that to illustrate what can “go wrong” with an internet forum. In a way, things like this being prevented are why this forum is so popular… There are some folks who have been forced to stop contributing to this forum because their attitudes about what the forum’s purposes should be differ from what the Pickett’s would like to see the forum be. Andy, in particular, has always tried to be very fair to everyone, and he does not make rash decisions regarding what gets removed from the forum or who’s IP’s get blocked or whatever.
If negative comments re: local businesses are allowed on here, there could be abuse by competitors’ businesses or personal attacks. The comments made don’t give anyone much chance to tell their side of the story and are, in fact, quite damaging to someone’s business. People place a lot of credibility in what they read on sites like this.
Abuse has happened in the past here, actually, and the forum admins have had to deal with a ton of trouble. This is why they have the policy they have, and regardless of anything I could tell them or you about the most recent subject of criticism/customer beware, the threads were removed.

Got quite a few “welcome to the club” calls or messages today. Ran into old friends and strangers, and several had figured out something bad had happened to me and shared their experiences with the same guy.
