Went up on the Blue Ridge Parkway today, the closed part. We took the golf cart and circumvented the closed off gates and this is some of what I saw As far as landslides and work being done

Here’s one they’ve fixed

The coolest thing I stumbled upon was where the park service has been stashing the rock that was quarried when the parkway was built in the 1930s during the WPA. They keep it for repairs, to match the 100 year old stuff.

Anyway, Id never have found it if they weren’t putting the damaged bridge and guardrail rocks that have been collected since Helene in the spot. It’s well hidden, I’ve driven by it literally 1000s of times and never knew it was there

Cool stuff, the pics don’t do it justice

The cleanup is ongoing, doubtful it will be finished this decade

You can’t beat this…

Here’s what $80k gets you in Surfside. Handmade in Italy. 8’ diameter, cooks 12 large pizzas at 700°. My FIL’s friend from Baltimore owns it. Best crabcakes, also. True lumpmeat.
Casa Mia’s.

Psoas in full revolt. I didn’t even know I had them, lol.

Hard to “walk it off”

You think you might have overdid it in the garden?
Doc sman prescribes some Jim Beam and a few ice cubes.

I grubbed rocks and old bricks to fill in my driveway ditch after 4 inches of rain in about 30 minutes washed a gully around what was a fine ditch.

I’m strong as an ox, but sometimes dumb as a mule.

It’s never too early to teach the boy how to corn the feeders.

He had a big day, picked up 1200 lbs of shell corn from Weathers Farm today and filled every thing up.
