We caught 5 of these today. Size ranging 6"-8".
This was the largest. Never seen these before. Anyone know what it is?

Dang. I thought I would have you stumped. But talked with Robert Wiggers and he said it’s unusual to catch them on rod and reel.

We caught a few of them a couple of weekends ago and had to do some research on the DNR fish ID page to figure out what it was. Seems it’s also unusual for them to be in inshore.
We caught these on cut Squid and small pieces of cut Whiting.

Caught one Sunday at the Shem Creek pier. I kept it overnight on ice and went to clean it Monday afternoon, and it had a horrific acidic-deterioated smell (the stomach acid odor). So if you plan on keeping them, keep them plenty cold and dress them quickly.

Yuk. I don’t eat 6 inch fish normally. I use them for bait.
