I second that…nothing like having a bull in a china shop, especially on a small boat…

striper fishing off Monmouth Beach NJ, wire line trolling a bunker spoon using an outrodder, didn’t hook up the safety line to the rod and almost lost a $400 rig and a nice bass

shut up and listen…you might learn something

taking a wave sideways when i first took my jon boat out alone. tiller jerked to one side and i went out the other at about 20mph. the boat did TIGHT circles around me until i swam to the bottom and out as far as i could so it wasnt circling around me. Got in the boat with my buddy i was following and used his phone to call my dad and have him come pick me up. Waited until the boat drifted into shallow water where i waded to it and jumped in to pull the kill switch since i had locked the throttle down.

lost: a phone and $215 costas in the process not to mention service on the motor.
Gained: never take a wave sideways and never lock the throttle without the kill switch on.

Yea, I left my tackle box in the truck. Long ride back.

On our last diving/fishing trip to Islamorada we were going to be proactive and actaully got the boat loaded up with drinks, food, etc the night before we were going out to fish. Myself ,my best friend, his son in law, and my youngest daughter (who was probably 10 at the time) left early. The rest of the women (wives, daughters, etc) stayed ashore to go shopping. None of us thought to check the cooler before leaving the dock, I mean everything else was on board why check the cooler? A few hours into the trip we realized that most of the bottled water had “disappeared”. There was only 3 or 4 1/2 liter bottles floating in a sea of beer cans, sandwich makings, and a bottle of dill pickles. Well obviously the water goes to the kid. Beer stops quenching the thirst after a while and we were becoming quite parched, but didn’t want to stop fishing because we were doing pretty well. The situation started going downhill fast from there. We start to melt what is left of the ice to drink.Friend’s son in law is drinking pickle juice. Daughter is okay, but not looking 100%. Start heading back and it seemed like forever. Tied up at the house and started drinking water like dehydrated camels. The “shoppers” are wondering what is going on with the “fishers”. Turns out the shoppers changed plans and decided on a trip to Anne’s Beach AND TOOK MOST OF OUR WATER FOR THEMSELVES just prior to our departure. We gave them some lighthearted ribbing for “trying to kill their husbands” to which they made it out like it was our fault to begin with. We still laugh about it. Lesson : check everything before leaving.

Forgot the fried chicken… ruined the whole day.

Fish to live.

Threw down my cajun anchor without tieing it on, boat had drifted into deep water. At least it was a homemade job, about $10 invested instead of $60. ($60 for a metal rod??!!??) [:I]:imp:

Ok so dad and I tried to go to remilys point and their was some sort of tourny going on and their was no parking. We left out to Morris landing on the Icw with one parking spot left. Went to put boat in the water to realize we had left the keys at the house :frowning: So we went home and watched fishing insted.

fish nude so u can show off ur pole…

Mine is like Bohicket except i did it duck hunting and already had my waders on. very scary, and very luck that boat didnt hit me. was lucky enough to grab a hold of side and hold on, managed to climb in and stop the boat. Needless to say one of the last times that i didnt put waders on without a life jacket and kill switch. Only thing i did right was had knife on Dloop that i was just about to grab and slice waders until boat came back to me.

Been there and done most all of that. Went shark fishing with friends once; in charge of bringing the bait. Which turned out to be frozen chicken instead of frozen mullet. Lost a large spinning rod to a blacktip and a 6/0 senator to a stingray. Tagged myself in the hand one mother’s day…had to go to Emergicare to get it removed. Ran about a hundred yards onto a sandbar in the Folly River on a sunday afternoon on an outgoing tide and then had to hear about it for months thereafter.
Had a boat project where I made a bracket for a 175 Evinrude which promply failed, leaving the motor hanging only by the steering cable. I’ve got more, but you get the picture. I’ve been fishing for a long time…
