Trying to get a hold in the boat turned back into dry storage and need to be able to plug it. But, … this thing is obviously not up to the task anymore. But, I can’t find a replacement. Part of my problem is that I don’t know what to call it. Google is no help if you don’t know what words to poke in there.
This is the tube in the bottom of the hold in which the plug should go. It is 5/8" inner diameter.
Was that supposed to be straight or is that outside flange supposed to be angled or did it get broke taking it out? Whatever it was, take it with you to the store, when you get the new one, to match it up.
The flange at the top of the fitting was cracking off preventing getting the plug in. That’s why it appears angled. Supposed tobe straight.
I guess it is a through hull fitting. Just would not have called it that due to its obvious fragility. Using this, even when new, as a through hull would be asking for water in the boat.
PalmerScott, I think I have a few of those in my shop. I’ll check in a little while. You are welcome to them if they are the same size, I’ll never use them.

I have a plastic one in a Duracraft live well/ dry box. The flanged side is on the outside of the boat. The plug goes into the end with the nut. The nut giving it reinforcement around the plug. It is still in great shape after 20 years. Is it possible that it is in backwards?
You don’t really have to worry about the ID of the fitting! You can get a plug to fit it. You need the OD that fits the hole that it came out of! Just a thought! Put some 3M 4200 sealant, around the inside of the hole when you install it and it won’t leak.
PS; The old fitting looks like it was sawed off to fit the thickness of the hull. I say that because the end without the flange has some plastic fuzz looking stuff on it. If you can’t find the exact fit you could cut a longer one also!

Sounds like it may have been an aerated system, or fresh water system at some point Captain Dave? Someone must have disabled it and put a plug in to stop water intrusion?? Anyway it sounds like it's doing its job!!
The reason I say this is because most aluminum boats that age only had an aluminum tube for the drain plugs, and plastic thru hull fittings for the aeration systems, or bilge pumps.
…Politicians aren’t the “Oldest Profession”, but the results are still the same!!!

No, it’s a drain plug. I can pull it and fill it with water and use as a live well or plug it and keep it dry. I bought the boat new.
Seems the flexing of the plug would wear out the flanged end but the end with the nut holds the plug snug and has limited expansion…
Thx for all the input. Found exactly the same fitting at west marine for about $4.
Cracker, thanks for looking. And, I wish I could put a brass tube, but I can’t get to the other side of the fitting. So, the new nylon drain tube is going in with a bed/collar of epoxy putty. Should get another 20 years out of it.
This is not going through my hull. Only from the inside of a fish box to the main drain down the inside center if the hull and into the bilge sump at the stern.
I’d looked at WM before and couldn’t find it. Went back today and found it. Just not with the plumbing fittings. It was the only fitting by itself beside the bilge pumps on a different isle.
