what is your casting to hook up ratio

Hi there. I do a lot of fishing and mostly alone. This leads to a ridiculous amount of time for my brain to tick away on various subjects while I’m on the water. The other day while I was out catching, I was wondering… “over the last 25 years of fishing, how many casts have I made vs. how many fish I’ve landed?” I’m only talking using artificials here.

So I figure on a marginally decent day, I catch 10 fish but may have to cast 200 times to get there so my ratio is 1:20. Some days I might not catch anything. So realistically, on average, over the last 25 years, I’m thinking my fish to hook up (FTHU) ratio is probably closer to 1:2000 give or take a couple of thousand.

So what do you think your FTHU Ratio is?

Dang, I need a fishin buddy.

Narcosis

hahah…I hear you on the wandering mind while fishing. Audio books are pretty great for me when I’m fishing alone, especially on the bottom while I wait for the reel to buzz. I bet I get something hit the hook about 1 of 20 casts. but 9 times out of ten it’s a ray or a puppy shark, which I don’t want.

Overall, a lifetime average would be a least 1,000 to 1. Chunk and wind
