I catch these little guys all the time with my castnet off my dock in a creek off the Wando.
They arent as hardy as mud minnows, so I havent been using them much for bait.
They are around during all four seasons, so I was wondering if they have any use.
Thanks for any replies.

Grouper love them! That’s all we use in the Gulf for grouper and snapper.

We put out traps overnight and catch about 200 before we head out . All the bait shops down there sell them, about $10 a dozen. I’ve bought $100 worth more than once. Too bad we can’t trap them here.

Dear Vegas…Fish them under a popping cork with a split shot between hook and swivel to keep them down. Big spotails will eat them up!

Catch 'em before you head out if you can’t trap them. Is it against the regs?
When I fished with my buddy out of Matagorda, TX, I would always make it to the launch at least an hr. before launch time and fish a tiny piece of shrimp on a really small hook under the lights and fill a 5 gallon bucket in no time. We’d then transfer them to his live well for the trip out to the wrecks/rigs. We’d stop at some weedlines and add some hard tails to well on sabiki’s then head on out to bottom fish.
Thanks for all the replies guys. I baited one up last night in the creek and had it torn in half by a spot tail. Ive got no love for those little devils, and have lost a cooler full of bait to them over the years.
Ive also noticed that the mud minnows in the creeks have started showing up in larger numbers, somewhat replacing the large shrimp Id been catching earlier in the month.

Biggest creek Redfish I ever caught was on a pinfish hooked just behind the dorsal fin on a Carolina rig.

anybody clip the dorsals on pinfish before using them as bait? I have had no luck inshore with pinfish as bait for whatever reason
