The toad looking fish I caught in the cooper (salt side) and the bait fish was caught eating my mud minnows. Can anyone tell me?

Looks like a baby Bluefish and an Oyster Toadfish also called a Dogfish.
You definitely need to invest in a fish ID chart… Not knowing your fish could result in some legal trouble.

Only if you keep them.

I was right on the dogfish/toad fish. Was unsure of the blue fish. Thanks guys

Don’t stick your fingers in their mouths, the toad will mangle them and the bluefish will cut them clean off!

So then every person who fishes in these rivers could get in serious legal trouble? ??
Like DFreedom said, only when you keep the fish! You don’t always know what will bite. When we are targeting flounder, Reds and trout all we need to know is the keeper size/slot limit and number we can keep.
The great thing about this forum is if you catch some kind of weird looking fish, we can take a pic and ask fellow fishermen if they know what it is or look at an ID CHART later.
I just think that a fish id chart is a wonderful thing to have… if you don’t know your fish
