What rig for flats walking

Never done any flats fishing. Don’t have a boat. I think I found some sandy flats I can walk. That being said… What kind of rig are you guys using when on shallow flats? Thanks. Oh and I don’t have a fly rod.

slightly weighted weedless soft plastic. flukes and tubes work well.
here’s an old blog that may help. good luck!

Johnson gold spoon or red ripper(gold or black) both are weedless, deadly and you can hurl 'em a mile. I like the larger ones (3/4 ounce I think) but lead the fish and throw past because if you throw that huge thing on top of a tailer, he’s GONE. Reel the bait slowly (not too fast as to spook the fish) up to the tail or infront of a cruiser and they’re sure to engulf it. Fluke rigs like the rbr311 said works great too.

Caught a couple friday night on a weighted flutter hook, and zman glow crab. Cast it close, let it sit, and wait for the drag to start screaming:)

All above dead on, however fresh Crab chunks, fresh dead shrimp sometimes can save the day if needed due to blowing up fish early on cause it’s a sure thing and a good wat to hedge your catching, corked of course.

Only down side can’t cast as far, or really move bait once you cast it, but it has saved the day while you are learning the Flood Tide thing

…Good Luck

I’m a big fan of the weedless rigged flukes and no weight. I have the most luck on bass assassin and gulp. Z-man works great also but are very buoyant and I have to add weight if I use them. I prefer the no weight method because most of the times I wade I am around oysters. If I find I need just a little more weight, I sometimes put a gold snap swivel on. It is much less than 1/8 or 1/4 oz jig head or flutter but enough that the bait will slowly sink to the bottom.

Narcosis

Gulp crab on a 4/0 circle hook, tied to about 25lb flouro, tied to braid. You cant go wrong!! Light enough not to spook the fish (unless you hit it in the head), but heavy enough to toss. Put in front of tailing fish, twitch, hold on!
