Getting ready to focus on in shore/creek fishing for the fall.
Getting stuff ready and I was wondering what rigs folks have set up for this type of fishing. I have a rod with a trout eye rig, usually set up with some type of shad/minnow plastic. A rod with a Vudu shrimp, a rod with a carolina rig and two float rigs, one about 18" the other about 2.5".
What do y’all have set up, im thinking it prob would be good to have a topwater rig ready to go as well.

Add in a knocker rig or a plain circle hook for flipping and pitching baits and that covers everything. I typically take a bottom rig, a bobber rig and a arti rod.

Thanks, that makes sense,
cheers

Baitcasters for most everything in my boat and spinning rods rigged with lighter baits and for guest. I run braid to floro on nearly all of my rigs and fish 7’ - 7’6" rods usually M or MH with 6.4:1 gears or 7.1:1 depending on what I’m doing and targeting. Spinning rods are all M or ML and 7’ and I run 2500 series sizes mostly as I don’t go offshore or go after much more than a few miles out as I focus on inshore and rivers mostly. Main rigs are swim bait hooks, trout eyes with soft plastic jerk baits or paddle tails, topwater, and a heavier flipping weight like a 1oz football head or swivel/swing head football to drag around soft plastics on the bottom. I don’t live bait fish at all so my setups will vary from most I’d bet.
My personal opinion is it boils down to price point vs quality. I have had both. I still have my first ever purchased Stratic FJ from 2011 and I have thrown away two penn battle 4000's. My issue is that the Penn Battle is a fine performing reel but doesn't seem to be sealed as well as the stratic's. I also take my reels once a year to Steve at Haddrells and have him clean and lube them. I have also started using youtube and watching videos on how to clean all my different reels. The biggest thing Steve has told me is to rinse the reels lightly with water but prefers that I use the Penn Reel Cleaner and use a rag with a couple sprays and wipe it down.
If I am looking at it from price I would go Penn and clean after every outing. Your also talking to the guy that has Stratic Ci4 on all his rods. The Stratic’s especially the Ci4 series are so much lighter and pair really well with moderate to high end rods.
typically, this time of year I’m throwing a popping cork with mud minnows or shrimp under it, and another rod with something z-man on it
what length leader under corks are you using? I usually use about 18-24 in of flouro

Last few times out I have to set up, one shallow, 18" at most, the other maybe 3’. I can throw one over oysters and stuff but if i want to fish same area but in a deeper spot I dont have to re rig. I also took my carolina rig rod and replaced it with a top water. So i have two float rigs, a top water, a paddle tail and vudu shrimp set up.
