Since the weather man wont let us fish today I’m sit’n around working on my gear getting ready for when we can go. I was wanting to go ahead and pre-rig several pitch bait leaders with circle hooks to have ready. The largest c-hooks I have are 8/0.Are these large enough for dolphin and sails or should I make a run to the sporting goods store for something larger?
8/0s are plenty big enough. You could even stand to go a.couple of.sizes smaller. Esp if you are using quality circle.hooks. If you are pitching to fish like sails and dolphin, make sure the fish has turned from the boat before you engage your drag to set the hook. Helps seat the hook in the corner of the mouth.

I use a 9/0 Eagle Claw. I tried the 6/0 and 7/0 VMCs and I prefer the Eagle Claws in 9/0 for small and medium ballyhoo.
