What size net

What size net do you throw and why?? Lookin to see how many throw 10 foot nets…

I throw a 6’ Betts old salt. You should throw what you can consistently open and hit the bait. If you can do so with a 10 foot net and not wear your self out, then use a 10 foot net. If you only get the 10 foot net open part of the time, then use a smaller net.

7ft super pro. Perfect length standing on my platform to the floor

a few years ago 10’ on a cc now max 8’ on a jon.

All great advice, throw what you can consistently open. When I used to bait shrimp I threw a 8 footer.I throw a 12 footer now.

I learned how to throw on a 7’er, then as I gained experience, I bought an 8’er. I carry both with me on every trip. I throw the 7’er until we get in 'em heavy, then switch to the 8. So far this year…have not thrown the 8. Absolutely the most important thing said is throw what you can open. An open 6’er is better than a banana shaped 10’er. That’s just my $0.02 worth.

8’ with 5/8" mesh. It makes a difference. We were using a 6’ with 1/2" mesh and did alright, but moved up this year. It isn’t that much harder throwing it. Comparing them side by side is no contest though. The larger net sinks faster and covers double the area. Try the over the shoulder method for throwing as shown here. It doesn’t wear you out near as bad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twJzZ--A1tg

I throw an 8’. My buddy has a 10 and a 7 sp. A 7 or 8 std weight is all I care to throw. The 7’ super pro weighs the same as the 10. It flat out covers some water. It will work your tail out too. I got bad shoulders and it kills me to throw it very much. Depends on what you can handle. I would prefer a 7 when you have to work for them. If the run starts hard now nothing is sweeter than seeing what that 10 will pull over the bow. It does take a little longer to clear and regathering. The 7 pro will hold open throwing into 15+ wind. It is a lot easier to have 90% pancakes with the 7 or 8. That matters-know that
